THE YEAR OF THE PRIEST.

AGENTS OF TRANSFORMATION.
Welcome to my thirteenth and
last post on 'The Year of the Priest' Series. Each week until the feast of
the Sacred Heart in June 2010, this series provided food for thought on
the Year of the Priest', examined how we, as laity, can appreciate the
gift of Priesthood in the Sacrament of Holy Orders, and encourage our priests
in this special year. If you missed my posts on this series, why not take a
look. I hope you enjoyed this series.
As we complete our
journey in The Year of the Priest, we can continue to show our support for our
priests by being committed to praying for him. Our priests are in fact our
agents for transformation. In the sacrament of Reconciliation and through
spiritual direction especially, our priests can help us turn our mountain of 'garbage
of our lives' into a mountain by hope. They are a mediator between God
and ourselves, especially when he is offering the Mass. At times when our
spirits are low, we can turn to our priest for some extra spiritual support and
prayers.
It is fitting that the Year
of the Priest closes on the feast of the Sacred Heart. As we direct
our prayers to Him and to His Sacred Heart, wounded on the cross for us, we can
place the ministry and holiness of all priests in His loving embrace. By doing
this, we can increase our own devotional prayer life by renewing our
dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on behalf of all priests. Learning and
keeping the Nine consecutive first Fridays and understanding the nature of the
promises can be found here.
Another interesting article
which explains the nature and source of the promises is located here.
Let us continue to support and encourage our priests, as
both in their preaching at Mass and in all their other ministries, they show us
how to take hold the salvation Jesus has won for us.
