Day 1: 12 DAYS CHRISTMAS SERIES.

How many times have you heard it said ' Christmas is only one day'?
As we know this is correct if we think of Christmas day only. Liturgically however, the season of Christmas commences on Christmas Day and closes with the feast of the Epiphany. Christmastide is the second most important feast of the liturgical year, with the Pascal mystery celebrated at Easter being the number one place. However, Christmas is vital, because Christ took on our flesh and came into the world to save us- that is what Jesus means- God saves.

In this series, the Twelve Days of Christmas, I will offer a Christmas reflection and I hope that you will experience the season of Christmas both liturgically and in your life.

CHRISTMAS REFLECTION

A CHRISTMAS BLESSING.

May you hear the wonder of angels
in the conversations of 'shepherds'

May the bright star light illuminate your quest,
may wise people gift you from their treasure.

May your trust be as convinced as was Mary's
and your faithfulness be as sure as Joseph's.

May love enfold you as an infant's wrap
and smile upon you in every endeavour

And stretch to reach out
to uphold you in all that life brings.

May you know the strength of joy
The serenity of Peace
The possibilities of Hope
