Opening Prayer Series: Sixth Sunday of Year

OPENING PRAYER SERIES.

OPENING PRAYER

The Opening Prayer of the Mass for the Sixth Sunday of the Year reads as follows:

THE MASS: OPENING PRAYER SERIES ICON.

Let us pray
(that everything we do will be guided by God's law of love)
God our Father,
You have promised to remain for ever,
with those who do what is just and right,
Help us to live in Your presence.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

In making this prayer tangible for my life during this week, the following reflection questions emerged:
  1. What is God's law of love?
  2. How will you be guided by it during this week?
  3. What forms will be being 'just and right' take in your family, community, workplace and parish this week?
  4.  What does living in His presence mean to you?
  5. What difference will living in His presence make to your life this week?
  6.  How does God’s promise that He will remain for ever with those who do what is just and right impact on my desire to live in His presence this week?
During the week, we commence the season of Lent.  The Church invites us during this season to examine our lives and to have a conversion of heart. May our Lenten choice of penance in the areas of prayer, fasting and alms-giving assist us in this journey of renewal. May this week's opening prayer be our signpost.

Let us treasure God 's promise of being with those who are just and right
be guided by His law of love and live in His presence.
