September 11 a time to remember

SEPTEMBER 11

Just looking at the calendar and realising that today is September 11 is enough to send  shivers down the spine as memories of that horrific day come again to the surface.  I was not involved in any way personally, only from the point of view of a TV watcher.

However, the point of this post is not to dwell on those horrific memories and how the threat of terrorism was realised on US soil but to encourage us to stop, think and most importantly to say a prayer, go to Mass or say a Rosary for those who lost their lives on that day firstly.

I also encourage you to consider the families of those who were and probably still are affected by that day. No father, mother, sister, brother or friend with them- their loved one gone.  It may be a 9 days wonder to many in the world- this day will probably pass without even a mention in the media.

We are a people of faith, hope and love and we need to show that we care about this day in some way.  We may not, like myself know anyone personally and directly involved.  We  are, however, a family of the world.

Scripture says ''we are the body of Christ and when one is hurting we are all hurting.''

Let us do something to build the body of Christ up on this day- a prayer, light a candle, go to Mass for the souls of those who lost their lives, the relatives who mourn and struggle,  and for the world itself.
