Chapter 41 Pharaoh and his dream.

When one day Pharaoh has a dream which all the magicians and wise men of Egypt cannot explain, the former fellow-prisoner (chief butler) remembers his omission towards Joseph, who is brought to the King.  Joseph acknowledges to the King that his gift is from God (vs 16) The King replays his dream; which Joseph interprets correctly.  The King recognises the presence of God in Joseph ‘Can we find such a man as this, in whom is the Spirit of God?"(vs 38).

Pharaoh appoints him to his household, Joseph acts upon it and was able to help others when the time of famine arrived. It is interesting to reflect upon Pharaoh’s ability to delegate and to keep to the role description that he had given Joseph.

Joseph’s gratitude to God is also expressed in the naming of his two children. Vs 51 stated: "God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father's house” and named his first son with this in mind, whilst his second son is named as a reminder “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction." (vs 52)

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
When we remember a sin of omission, do we rectify what we ought to have done?
Are other people able to recognize the spirit of God in us?
How is our ability as a leader to be able to effectively delegate?
How is our capacity to keep to a verbal agreement in the workplace?
Are we able to ‘save for the future’ prudently, without ‘hoarding’?
How do we remember the good God has done in our lives?
How does God help us to forget and forgive our heart’s pain when we are hurt by others?
