I will console them in all their troubles.

THE PROMISES OF OUR LORD.

Sacred Heart of Jesus: Promises of  Our Lord Icon

"I promise you, in the excessive mercy of my heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Friday for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments; my divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in that last moment."

THIRD PROMISE. I will console them in all their troubles.

Today is the first Friday in March.  Let us consider this third promise by Jesus and make it our intention during March.

What does console mean?    Some of the synonyms include:

1. to
comfort (someone) at a time of grief or disappointment.
2. To give solace or give condolences.
3. to express sympathy to or show compassion.
4. to pity or show feeling to in commiseration.
5.To help, aid or support.
6. to cheer up, gladden, hearten, encourage.
7. to reassure, fortify, soothe, ease, alleviate.

When we look at this promise from Jesus with any of these synonyms, it may be worth using some of them in times of troubles in our lives.

It is also important to remember that the Holy Spirit is the giver of consolation.  We can pray that we may receive these graces so that in times of trouble we can reassure, soothe, ease, alleviate, show compassion, support, cheer up, hearten, give solace, comfort ourselves in our troubles as a form of self-care through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Added to that we can reassure, soothe, ease, alleviate, show compassion, support, cheer up, hearten, give solace, comfort others in their troubles.  We may pray that we can be a channel of consolation for others and thank God for the graces we have received in being able to be this channel for them

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

1.    1. Bring the family together for a meeting in how each individual and as a family may put this into practical application for this month.
2.   2/Remember to get each member to be specific so that the process of practical application is viable and able to be managed.
3.   3.Think about how you might apply this promise  not only In your own life and family but in your parish and extended world.
